If you’re like most people, you’re so busy with summer activities that it’s hard to keep on track with the things you always have to do – like grocery shopping or picking up things you need at the drug store.
So did we, until we found two things that REALLY work.
Your New Shopping List
Type out a checklist of the things you normally buy at the grocery store or drug store in the same order of the aisles in your favorite location. Print out ten lists. Then place your list wherever you’ll see it during the week. Like the fridge or on top of your desk.
Keep adding to it during the week when you think of things you need and then take it shopping with you. No more having to write out a WHOLE list every time you go shopping. Just start with a fresh one next week! And here’s a sample list to get you started.
Don’t Run Out Of The Things You Need
Are you always running to the store to pick up something you ran out of? We were too, until we came up with the idea of the Reserve List. Take one copy of the list that you made above and turn it into a Reserve List. Simply decide how many of each item you need to have on hand and note that number next to the item on the list.
How do you know how many you’ll need?
Just ask yourself:
1. How quickly do I use it? If you’re always running out, you’re not buying enough.
2. How much room does it take up? It’s harder to keep a lot of family-sized cereal boxes on hand, than extra tubes of toothpaste.
3. How hard it is to find? If you can only find it at certain stores, keep more on hand.
Then, next time you go to the store, just check the number on your reserve list against the number you have on the shelf and you’ll know exactly how many you have to buy. If you want to get really fancy, type the reserve numbers next to the items on your main list and save it separately as your brand new reserve list. And don’t forget to make lists for any other stores you usually visit.
