Do One Thing

2015-12-02 12.02.44

On Friday, Christmas day…

While winding my way through the park, on my way to pick up Christmas dinner, I got into a conversation with my cab driver.
He told me that he’d been wanting to move to another state for a long time.  In fact every year, he tells his wife that THIS year, they’re going to move. But he just can’t seem to get started. It’s been twenty years now.
I suddenly had this thought.  I popped out of my mouth before I could stop it.
I said, “Today is December 25th, right?  Well, all you have to do is set December 25th of next year as the day that you and your wife will move to where you really want to live. And then do one thing every day, towards that goal.   Then by this time next year, you’ll have done 365 things towards your move.”
He looked at me in the rear view mirror and said, “Okay.  I can do that.”
He knew what to do and he had a plan.  And if he sticks to it, that simple plan will change his life.
Of course he’s not the only one.  We have three major goals this year and when I got home we made the commitment to Do 1 Thing for each goal, ourselves.  Every day.
What about you?   Well, we’ve got an idea that might help get you started…
This year, we’re going to post simple steps you can take to make the things you need, the people you love and the keepsakes you treasure, safe and sound.  Simple steps you can take every day.  And by the end of the year, you’ll be 365 steps closer.
We’ll be posting the steps on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/icemyphone) and all the steps for that week here on our blog.
So what do you think?  Are you ready to Do 1 Thing?
